PRINCIPAL TRANSPORTATION PLANNER-GDL
- Develops, applies, and evaluates technical planning analytical methods and procedures
- Supports analysis, both quantitative and qualitative, of transportation projects, programs, and policies
- Prepares and reviews engineering studies and specifications
- Manages contracts to ensure completion of projects within scope, on-time and within budget
- Develops Request for Proposals and participates in contractor/consultant selection
- Develops transportation service standards and policies
- Executes cooperative agreements, memorandums of understanding and certification requirements with other entities
- Represents staff at meetings to facilitate and implement planning projects
- Prepares comprehensive reports and correspondence inquiries
- Serves as lead with responsibility for transportation studies and research projects
- Conducts analysis and makes policy recommendation on state of good repair and asset management
- Provides technical and policy guidance to local jurisdictions and agencies on Metro programs
- Acts as liaison with outside agencies, public and private organizations
- Conducts analyses and makes recommendations supporting station site development
- Promotes development along transit lines and transportation corridors
- Participates in special task forces, committees, panels, transportation forums and peer groups
- Assists in developing program guidelines and strategies
- Develops and monitors forecasts, budgets, and financial plans for transportation programs and projects
- Coordinates and disseminates information to various departments, agencies, organizations, and the public
- Evaluates the costs, benefits, and risks associated with alternative funding plans, programs, and projects
- Communicates and implements safety rules, policies, and procedures in support of the agency's safety vision and goals; and maintains accountability for the safety performance of all subordinate employees
- Contributes to ensuring that the EEO policies and programs of Metro are carried out
- Theories, principles, and practices of transportation and land use planning, capital planning, grants management, project management
- Applicable local, state, and federal laws, rules, and regulations governing transportation policies, urban development practices and funding sources for public agencies
- Methods and procedures for data collection and analysis
- Financial, analytical, statistical, and mathematical processes and procedures
- Regulatory, municipal, county, transit, highway and agency policies, plans, and procedures
